Every PS4 has a Blu-ray drive, so you can play affordable second-hand discs; the PS4 Pro really shines on a 4K TV. The Nintendo 3DS, New 3DS XL and New 2DS XL play 3DS and DS game cards, and only the 2DS does without the 3D effect. A Meta Quest runs without a PC or cables; you need a Meta account to set it up.

Is a used Switch or PS4 worth it?
Yes. Consoles are built for years of use, and there's a huge choice of Switch and PS4 games, second-hand too. Buying used costs less, and the console is often barely used. The listing states exactly what comes with it, such as controllers, cables or the dock.
Switch OLED or Switch Lite – which suits me?
The Switch OLED has a larger OLED screen and detachable Joy-Con, and it connects to your TV via the dock: ideal if you also play with a friend or on the big screen. The Switch Lite is smaller and lighter, has built-in controls and plays in handheld mode only. All games that support handheld mode run on both.
What is stick drift – and do you check for it?
With stick drift, your character or cursor moves even though you're not touching the stick. With us, that's already checked: before sale, we test the sticks and buttons of the controllers or Joy-Con that come with the console.
