What matters when buying a used iPad?

Start with how you'll use it. For reading, browsing and streaming, an iPad or iPad mini is plenty. For drawing, photo editing or split-screen work, an iPad Air or iPad Pro with a faster chip and larger display pays off. Planning to use an Apple Pencil? Which one works depends on the iPad generation; Apple lists the combinations on its website. For storage, 64 GB is fine for streaming and office work; if you keep lots of apps, games or offline videos, go for 128 GB or more. Cellular models need a SIM or eSIM; at home, Wi-Fi is enough.

Is a used iPad worth it?
In most cases, yes. iPads get software updates for many years and are solidly built, so older generations remain very usable. Buying used saves you money compared with new, and the iPad is often barely used. Apple lists which iPadOS version each model supports on its website.
Wi-Fi or cellular – which iPad do I need?
If you mostly use it at home, at the office or via your phone's hotspot, Wi-Fi is enough. A cellular model with SIM or eSIM makes sense if you want to get online on the go without your phone, for example when travelling. Each listing states whether the iPad is Wi-Fi or cellular.
Will my Apple Pencil or keyboard work with any iPad?
No. Styluses and keyboards only fit certain models or generations. Which Apple Pencil works (1st generation, 2nd generation, USB-C or Pro) depends on the iPad model. Apple lists the compatible combinations on its website, and every one of our listings states the exact model.
